Since 2016, Sterling Pharmacy has teamed up with patients and customers throughout the month of June to collect donations for the Alzheimer’s Association. Beginning June 1, that tradition will continue. During your next visit to the Sterling store, Facebook page, or website, you will notice a focus on Alzheimer’s awareness.

“We believe businesses should be involved in their communities and provide ways to contribute to a greater good,” said Sam Ewing, president of Sterling Pharmacy. “Raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Association has been something our employees have rallied behind for the last three years, and I look forward to the energy it will bring to the stores this year.”

With fourteen locations across Minnesota and two in Iowa, Sterling’s reach and its communities’ eagerness to help others has led to substantial donations over the past three years. In 2018, the stores raised $22,593. In addition, that amount was matched by the Astrup Family Foundation, a charitable organization created possible by the legacy of and in memory of Leonard and Corrine Astrup, Sterling’s founders.

“Alzheimer’s disease is something that affects nearly every family in one way or another,” said Mr. Ewing. “Our fundraising efforts honor and support Sterling’s founders, family, and friends. I want to thank our communities in advance for their support. The giving spirit of our patients and customers is always uplifting to see.”

For the 2019 efforts, the Astrup Family Foundation will once again match contributions donated at the Sterling stores, up to $25,000. Donations will be accepted June 1 through June 30.
