George Wiemerslage

George August Wiemerslage, 92, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully on July 23 at Gundersen Health Services in La Crosse, Wis.

George was born in Allamakee County to George and Matilda (Kubitz) on April 16, 1927 and at a young age dedicated his life to dairy farming. George was baptized and confirmed at St. Lukes United Church of Christ.  He fell in love and married Muriel on February 15, 1952, the couple made their home in the New Albin/Eitzen area and six years later moved to their current home in rural Caledonia.

George loved going on Sunday afternoon road trips with his wife and family. He loved to sit with his coffee and reminisce, he had a wonderful sense of humor, and an excellent memory. He had a love for planes and made a small replica of a B-52 fighter plane and enjoyed working on his tractors. He enjoyed passing out tootsie roll pops to all of his great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Muriel, children Bev(Don), Gary(Denise) grandchildren Corey(Angela), Chad(Suzanne), Craig(Lisa),  Adam(Ashley), Kelly, Brian, Greg(Becca), grand son-in-law Mike, and granddaughter-in-law Becky; great-grandchildren Damian, Caleb, Livi, Caitlyn, Kylie, Aubry, Jaiden, Trista, Addison, Ari, Braxton, Izabelle, Gavin, Carson, Kenzie, Grace, Austin, and Adrick.  He is preceded in death by his siblings Esther, Evelyn, Ervin, son Rob and grandchildren Shelly and Kyle, and great grandchild Bennet.

A funeral service will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eitzen, Minn., on Saturday, July 27 at 11:00 AM with a one hour visitation prior to services at the church.

Pastor Todd Krueger will officiate.

Roble Funeral Home of Spring Grove is assisting the family with arrangements.
