Houston County sheriff Mark Inglett reports the Sheriff’s Office has lowered the fee to apply for a permit to carry a firearm for Houston County residents and military veterans. In the past, the fee has been the same for county residents and out of state residents which was $100.00.
Sheriff Inglett states it always seemed ridiculous to charge the same fee to our county residents as we were charging to the out of state residents. The out of state resident applications typically involve considerably more time during the background check process.
Sheriff Inglett has also substantially lowered the application fee for our resident military veterans as well. “I am happy to offer a break to our veterans considering their service to our country”, said Sheriff Inglett.
The new fees for permit to carry applications took effect on October 1st, 2019. The out of state application fee will remain the same at $100.00.
Resident new application fee: $65.00
Resident renewal application: $45.00
Resident-Military new application: $35.00
Resident- Military renewal application: $30.00
