On October 31, 2019 at approximately 12:39 am., Houston County Emergency Dispatch Center received a call of a residential house fire at 1086 Dump Hill Road Rushford, MN within Houston County.  

The residence was occupied by a family of six people. All occupants were able to get out of the house prior to law enforcement arrival. The house was totally engulfed in flames upon officer’s arrival and is a total loss. The fire is currently under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshall and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office. No cause of the fire has been determined at this time.

Three juvenile females ranging in age from 3-7 years old were transported to Gundersen Hospital La Crosse, WI and Winona Health Hospital with injuries sustained in the fire.  Gundersen Air Helicopter transported one adult male, age 45, to Regions Hospital St. Paul, MN. with serious injuries.  The 3 girls were later transferred to Regions Hospital with serious injuries as well.  Mayo-One Helicopters assisted with transporting patients to Regions Hospital from Gundersen Hospital and Winona Health Hospital. In addition, one juvenile male, age 15, and one adult female, age 40, were also transported to Gundersen Hospital for injuries sustained in the fire.
