It’s levy setting season and the Caledonia public school board set the maximum levy amount per the usual routine by local units of government.

The board, which will decide upon a permanent levy amount later this year, can always go down from the levy set in September, but cannot go up.

All boards and municipalities do this as it is a standard practice in Minnesota.

Other news

The board meetings will now be held in room A154 to allow for better acoustics as, sometimes, it was hard to hear them in the media center.

ª Nicole Ott was hired back as a full-time middle school/high school secretary.

• Tiffany Hill was hired as a part time nurse.

• The board approved the FFA trip to Indianapolis which will be held from October 30 through November 2.

• Mrs. Link updated the board that things are off to a smooth start at the elementary school.

• Principal Nate Boller noted that the senior classes first open campus will be October 11.

“At this time, seniors have open campus on the last day of the week,” he said. “This is a privilege that is earned and a system is in place for seniors to follow. If things go well, more days will be added for seniors to leave.”
