This past Thursday, July 11, the Caledonia Chamber of Commerce quarterly Lunch and Learn was held at the new Mainspring in Caledonia and the speaker was Allison Wagner, from CEDA.
“She spoke about how CEDA supports businesses throughout Houston County and about several projects she is currently working on,” said Chamber Member Sandy Graves.
“We also presented the Chamber of Commerce All- Star Award. This quarters award went to Janene Hosch. Janene was nominated for her many years of service for multiple organizations, churches and the community as a whole.”
“Janene invests her time with beautifying Caledonia,” said Chamber Director Eric Halverson. “The work she’s done with the Master Gardners, planting flowers and taking care of them, has really improved the look of the town.”
For her efforts, Hosch joins recent chamber All-Star winners who equally have benefited Caledonia and were honored for their contributions.
“It’s something fairly new,” Halverson said of the awards.
The first Chamber All Star was Polly Heberlein.
“Polly is involved in so many things,” Halverson noted. “She’s active in the Chamber, Street Scapes, Caledonia Community Spirit. She was our first ever winner of the award.”
At their quarterly meeting in April, the Chamber recognized Dennis Gavin. A photo of Gavin appeared in the Argus at that time.
“He’s done so much giving to this community,” Halverson said of Gavin. “And of course, for creating so many jobs with the Haulers.”
The next quarterly meeting will be held on October 10, although the venue and guest speakers are still being worked out.
“We are still searching for the topics,” Halverson said.
Halverson noted that if anyone would like to nominate someone for a future Chamber All Star they should reach out to the chamber via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
