MedExpress donated a complete Learn-To-Ride Program, including Strider Learn-To-Ride Bikes, helmets and curriculum to Valley View Elementary in Columbia Heights.

The bikes were assembled in early June at Valley View in a collaborative effort by MedExpress staff, who volunteered their time, along with Heidi Ostrander.

This donation will help about 375 kindergarten students learn to ride over the next five years.

The Strider Bikes will be incorporated into the curriculum for every kindergarten physical education class at Valley View.

Currently, only students in third through fifth grade are offered bike curriculum.

Valley View will receive everything it needs to get students pedaling through its physical education program. The program includes proven, integrative curriculum, staff training and certification, the child-friendly Strider Learn-To-Ride bikes and helmets.

The bikes start as balance bikes and convert to pedal bikes. This conversion makes learning to ride easier without training wheels.

The Strider Education Foundation, the program provider, also offers continued support for each school to ensure everyone involved is successful for five years.
