Summer elementary school students learned about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) this summer at Park Terrace Elementary in Spring Lake Park.
The elementary school students worked on a variety of STEM projects in which they made tracks, towers and marshmallow poppers and played math games.
“I love seeing the students doing hands-on activities with STEM, but also when learning math,” STEM specialist Jan Burda said. “It is engaging, and they beg to play the games longer each day as well as asking to play them again the next day. Math at its finest!”
The STEM lessons were a part of reading and math courses the elementary school students took this summer. Students involved in the Park Terrace Elementary summer program hail from all over the district.
Summer classes at Park Terrace Elementary started in mid-June and ended Aug. 1.
