Forty locals donated $280,000 in scholarships to more than 90 Columbia Heights High School seniors at the school’s academic awards ceremony.

Forty local donors, representing foundations, businesses, memorials, individuals and others, donated a total of $280,000 in scholarships to more than 90 Columbia Heights High School seniors at the school’s academic awards ceremony last week. A total of 64 students received scholarships valued at $1,000 or more with 31 seniors presented with two or more scholarships.

Senior Jessenia Yupangui was acknowledged for being awarded the Gates Scholarship – an all-expenses-paid scholarship she plans to use while attending Princeton University. A total of 15 seniors received scholarships valued at more than $10,000.
