A 51-year-old Shoreview man is charged with shooting a police vehicle in Circle Pines Jan. 10.
Donald Raymond Guse faces one felony count of drive-by shooting, one felony count of reckless discharge of a firearm within a municipality, one felony count of fleeing a peace officer, one felony count of first-degree property damage and one gross misdemeanor count of second-degree DWI.
At 7:09 p.m. Centennial Lakes officers inside the Police Department heard a gunshot from outside. Upon exiting the building officers found a round had been fired into the driver’s side window of a squad car parked outside and ricocheted back out, damaging the glass door leading into the station, according to the complaint.
Surveillance video revealed a white pick-up truck had stopped along the road and the occupant appeared to fire a round at the building.
A short time later the truck was found, and officers attempted to stop it. The truck fled to a nearby driveway where Guse was arrested, the charges say. Officers allegedly found a scoped shotgun and an empty slug shell in the vehicle.
Guse, who appeared intoxicated and refused a breath test when arrested, admitted to attempting to shoot the tire off the squad car, according to the complaint.
