Friday, Aug. 23

Columbia Heights welcomes in PACT for its season opener in the first of four home contests to kick off the Hylanders’ season.


Blaine vs. Maple Lake

Saturday, Aug. 24

Blaine opens the year at the Sideout Classic in Edina against Maple Lake. The Irish won the Class AA state championship two years ago and went 18-12 last year.

Spring Lake Park at Coon Rapids

Tuesday, Aug. 27

An early season matchup features Spring Lake Park making the short trek to Coon Rapids in Northwest Suburban Conference play.

Boys/Girls Soccer

Blaine at Anoka

Tuesday, Aug. 27

It’s a key early NWSC doubleheader at Goodrich Field as Blaine visits Anoka. The boys open the evening, with Anoka having edged the Blaine boys 2-1 in the 2018 regular season before the Bengals went on to reach the Section 7AA finals. The Bengal and Tornado girls close the evening. The teams have met in the postseason the past four years and split 1-0 clashes a year ago.

Thursday, Aug. 29

A telltale sign of fall getting underway takes place at Anoka in the ABC meet, featuring the host Tornadoes, Andover, Blaine, Coon Rapids and Champlin Park.

Northdale pool co-hosts

Coon Rapids and Blaine square off in an early season conference meet.


Blaine at Wayzata

Thursday, Aug. 29

Blaine is coming off of one of its top seasons in school history last fall, having gone 11-1 and reached the Class 6A state semifinals. The Bengals will have a tough task at hand to begin the fall, traveling to Wayzata. The Trojans went 5-5 in 2018, with four of their losses coming by 4 points or less.


Spring Lake Park at Armstrong

Thursday, Aug. 29

After a run to the state tournament a year ago, Spring Lake Park opens the year at Armstrong. The Panthers edged Armstrong 22-21 in the regular season last fall.


Lakeville South at Totino-Grace

Thursday, Aug. 29

Totino-Grace, coming off of a 2-7 season, hosts Lakeville South to kick off the fall. The Cougars closed last year strong, bouncing back from a 1-5 start to reach the state semifinals.


Bloomington Kennedy at Fridley

Thursday, Aug. 29

Fridley is coming off of a 7-3 year and trip to the Section 4-4A finals last fall. The Tigers open the year against Kennedy, which was 1-8 in 2018.


SMB at Columbia Heights

Friday, Aug. 30

Columbia Heights faces a steep challenge to open the year in hosting reigning Class 4A state champion SMB. The Hylanders went 6-4 in 2018.
