Fridley Public Schools voters elected newcomer Jake Karnopp for Fridley School Board Tuesday, Nov. 5, along with incumbents Donna Prewedo and Abdisalam Adam. Current board chair Chris Riddle was not reelected.
Karnopp took 31.3% of the vote (1,219 votes), Prewedo received 26.29% (1,024 votes) and Adam garnered 22.54% (878 votes), according to unofficial results from the Secretary of State's Office. Riddle had 19.02% (741 votes), and there were 33 write-in ballots.
“During the campaign process, I met a lot of great people in Fridley,” Karnopp said. “Now I look forward to meeting and working with more of them.”
Prewedo thanked her supporters for their willingness to vote Tuesday.
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to make positive strides for Fridley,” Prewedo said.
Adam looked toward the future in light of his win.
“I will make sure Fridley students receive world-class education,” Adam said. “The real work begins now.”
Riddle’s term expires in January.
