The Fridley High School Activities and Athletics Department hosted its fourth annual Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Aug. 5 at Green Haven Golf Course.
The event began with the Fridley Tiger Open, a fundraising golf tournament with all proceeds raised to benefit Fridley activities and athletics. Eleven individuals were honored at the evening’s induction ceremony. The event provided an opportunity for the district’s former sports legends to once again share the spotlight and hear the cheers of Fridley Tiger pride.
This year’s inductees included: Cal Palmer (Class of 1967); Maury Roberge (hockey, tennis, cross-country coach; helped build the Fridley High School Hockey Program, the Hockey Association of Fridley); Mike Good (Class of 1967); Kristi Dean Nedved (Class of 1988); Clyde Riddel (track, basketball, football coach 1970-2001, helped to build Fridley Adapted Athletic Program); Scott Dickenson (Class of 1975); Chad Van Hulzen (Class of 1983); Denise Boser Girtz (Class of 1988); Glenn and Connie Van Hulzen (Fridley Activities and Athletics contributors); and Susan Gottwald (Class of 1973).
