3 Anoka-Hennepin board seats up for grabs

Three Anoka-Hennepin School Board seats are on the ballot this November.

Filing to run in districts 1, 2 and 5 opens July 30 and runs through Aug. 13. Candidates must file at the Anoka County Office of Elections and Voter Registration (2100 Third Ave., Suite W130 Anoka).

District 1, currently held by Tom Heidemann, represents western Andover, Anoka, western Coon Rapids and southwestern Ramsey. It includes: Franklin, Lincoln, Ramsey and Wilson elementary schools; Anoka Middle School for the Arts; Anoka High School and STEP.

Marci Anderson currently represents District 2 which includes Blaine and eastern Coon Rapids. Eisenhower, Jefferson, Johnsville, Madison and University Avenue elementary schools; Roosevelt and Northdale middle schools and Blaine High School are in the district.

District 5 is currently held by Nicole Hayes. It includes Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, southern Coon Rapids and Fridley.

The schools included in District 5 are: Adams, Champlin-Brooklyn Park Academy, Evergreen Park, Hamilton, Monroe and Oxbow Creek elementary schools; Champlin Park and Anoka-Hennepin Regional high schools.

 Fridley School Board candidate filing begins July 30

Candidate filing for the Fridley School Board begins at the end of July.

Filing is available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 30 through Aug.13 at the Anoka County Government Center, 2100 Third Ave., Anoka.

There are three seats up for election in November.

Anyone interested in running is encouraged to reach out to current School Board members to ask about their experiences, responsibilities and role requirements.

Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings, which take place on the third Tuesday of each month. Members can expect to devote at least 20 hours a month to the position.

3 SLP School Board seats up for election

The Spring Lake Park School District will have elections for three School Board members Nov. 5.

The seats of board members Jim Amundson, Tony Easter and Amy Hennen are up for grabs this year.

The filing period opens July 30 and closes at 5 p.m. Aug. 13. Candidates may file at the Anoka County Office of Elections and Voter Registration at 2100 Third Ave., Suite W130, Anoka.
