Spring Lake Park kicked off summer June 5-9 at the 44th annual Tower Days celebration.

Founded in 1972, the community festival has provided activities for residents and visitors for 47 years. The name Tower Days comes from Spring Lake Park’s U.S. Bicentennial celebration in 1976, when the town’s water tower was painted with stars and stripes in red, white and blue.

This year, Tower Days kicked off with the inaugural Dine and Dance Summer Music concert. The following day the Tower Days parade came through town and featured marching bands from Spring Lake Park, Blaine, St. Francis and Maple Grove high schools.

Other activities included a town garage sale, softball games, bingo tournaments and a free showing of “Ralph Breaks the Internet” June 8 at Sanburnol Park.

Tower Days hosted a full day of fun June 9 at Lakeside Lions Park. Activities included the MSMA Car Show, bungee trampoline, the Lumberjack Show, carnival games, inflatables, music, dancing, booths from local vendors, designer handbag bingo, a meat raffle and fireworks.
