Columbia Heights faces a steep challenge to open the year in hosting reigning Class 4A state champion SMB. The Hylanders went 6-4 in 2018.


Andover at Blaine

Tuesday, Sept. 3

A marquee soccer doubleheader begins with a rematch of the past three girls Section 7AA championship matches, with last year’s taken by Blaine 3-1. The night concludes with the boys match, as a pair of the section front-runners square off.


Blaine at Coon Rapids

Wednesday, Sept. 4

A crosstown conference matchup has Blaine making the short trip to Coon Rapids in Northwest Suburban action.


Anoka at Fridley

Wednesday, Sept. 4

Anoka heads to Fridley in early season non-conference play.


Fridley home meet

Thursday, Sept. 5

Fridley hosts a big meet with nearly 20 teams scheduled to attend, including Spring Lake Park.


Blaine at Coon Rapids

Thursday, Sept. 5

Blaine heads to Coon Rapids for an early Northwest Suburban showdown. Coon Rapids began the season with a sweep over White Bear Lake, while Blaine dropped a tight five-setter against Waconia at the Sideout Classic.

Tennis/Soccer/Swimming and Diving/Volleyball

Spring Lake Park home

Thursday, Sept. 5

A full slate of competition takes place at Spring Lake Park, led off with girls tennis against Maple Grove. The Panthers then host a boys and girls soccer doubleheader against Rogers, with girls swimming and diving against Andover and volleyball against Elk River.
