Blaine notched a pair of wins to open Northwest Suburban Conference play, rallying from a set down to defeat Coon Rapids in four sets Sept. 5, then sweeping Spring Lake Park Sept. 10. Spring Lake Park fell 3-0 against Elk River Sept. 5.

Totino-Grace went 1-4 at the Southwest Minnesota Challenge in Marshall Sept. 6-7 before sweeping Mound-Westonka Sept. 10.

Fridley went 1-3 at the Irondale Invite Sept. 7 before falling 3-0 against DeLaSalle Sept. 9.

Columbia Heights fell 3-0 against Richfield Sept. 9.

Boys cross-country

Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony earned third place and Fridley finished fifth out of 11 teams at the Fridley Peach Run Sept. 5. Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony’s Owen Erickson was the individual winner, covering the 3,200-meter course in 10:41.4. Connor McCoy led Fridley with a sixth-place time of 11:01.8.

Blaine took seventh place at the Cambridge-Isanti Invitational Sept. 6, led by Tyler Anderson in 15th in 18:18.5 and Joshua Fike in 16th in 18:20.2.

Totino-Grace finished 14th at the Faribault Invitational Sept. 6, led by John Nord in 24th in 17:46 and Marshall Loveland in 29th in 17:51.

Girls cross-country

Spring Lake Park took first place and Fridley earned third out of seven teams at the Fridley Peach Run Sept. 5. Spring Lake Park captured four of the top six spots, with Kaitlyn Finnegan winning the 3,200-meter race in 12:22.4, followed by Jenna Terrio (12:58.6), Autumn VanDenTop (13:09.8) and Claire VanDenTop (13:20.3). Fridley’s Anna Couwenhoven was the runner-up in 12:31.4.

Blaine took fifth place out of seven teams at the Cambridge-Isanti Invitational Sept. 6. Kelsey Huver led the Bengals in 10th place in 21:04, followed by Elizabeth Warren (22:44), Adriana Potts (22:57), Shalom Sulungaine (23:01) and Jordyn Lang (23:08).

Totino-Grace finished 11th at the Faribault Invitational Sept. 6, led by a sixth-place run of 19:50.8 by Emilie Meyer.

Girls Tennis

Blaine dropped a tight 4-3 conference battle with Coon Rapids Sept. 4. Winning for the Bengals were Olivia Troy at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-1), Mary Shogren and Maria Merck at No. 1 doubles (6-4, 7-5) and Sara McGrath and Evelyn Scheibe at No. 2 doubles (7-6 [6], 6-4). Blaine fell 7-0 against Elk River Sept. 5.

Spring Lake Park fell 7-0 against Osseo Sept. 4, 7-0 against Coon Rapids Sept. 5 and 6-1 against Rogers Sept. 10. Carissa Roell and Genevieve Nusbaum picked up a 7-6 (14), 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles against Rogers.

Columbia Heights split two matches in a tri Sept. 7, with a 5-2 win over Viroqua and a 5-2 loss against host Cotter. The Hylanders fell 4-3 against DeLaSalle Sept. 5.

Totino-Grace earned a 5-2 win over Andover Sept. 5.

Fridley fell 7-0 versus Anoka Sept. 4.

Boys Soccer

Blaine split a pair of Northwest Suburban matches, defeating Elk River 3-2 Sept. 5 before falling 5-2 at Armstrong Sept. 10. Tega Oghenekowhegba, Amarr Adam and Felipe Fanning had goals in the win over the Elks.

Spring Lake Park fell 5-1 against Rogers Sept. 5 and 5-0 at Centennial Sept. 10.

Fridley took two of three to move to 5-2 on the season, defeating Delano 2-1 Sept. 5 and Providence Academy 4-3 Sept. 7 before falling 7-2 at DeLaSalle Sept. 9. Chris Castillo and Hussein Alubaidi scored in the win over Delano, with Castillo scoring all four goals against Providence.

Columbia Heights leveled its record at 3-3 with a 4-2 win over Richfield Sept. 9. Mohamed Qaid scored two goals and Yahya Bashir and Diego Giles Quiroz each scored one.

Totino-Grace won a pair of road matches in Wisconsin Sept. 6-7, defeating Madison West 4-1 and Oregon 4-2. Stevie Lamarre collected a hat trick versus Oregon. The Eagles then fell 6-2 against Class AA’s No. 9 Andover in their return to NWSC play Sept. 10.

Girls Soccer

Blaine earned a pair of NWSC wins, defeating Elk River 4-2 Sept. 5 and Armstrong 3-1 Sept. 10, while dropping a 2-0 non-conference match at Hill-Murray Sept. 7.

Spring Lake Park fell 6-2 against Rogers Sept. 5 and 5-1 at Centennial Sept. 10.

Fridley picked up wins of 3-1 over Nova Classical Sept. 5 and 6-1 over Concordia Academy Sept. 7 before falling 8-0 at DeLaSalle Sept. 9 and 6-2 at North Lakes Sept. 10. Grace Prairie tallied all three goals in the win over Nova Classical and another five in the win over Concordia.

Columbia Heights fell 5-0 at St. Paul Washington Sept. 6 and 3-0 against Richfield Sept. 9.

Totino-Grace split a pair of one-goal conference matches, topping Anoka 3-2 Sept. 5 before falling 2-1 at Andover Sept. 10. Lauren Miller scored two goals and Kaitlyn Brandt had one in the win over Anoka.
