Returning starters/key contributors: Kelsey Kallio (senior midfield; 2018: 20 goals, six assists, all-conference, all-state, all-metro); Olivia Knoepfle (junior forward, 13 goals, seven assists, all-conference, all-state); Kai Gillespie (senior defender, 13 shutouts, four goals allowed in conference, all-conference, all-state); Anna Breffle (senior forward, four goals, six assists, all-conference); Maria Stocke (junior midfield, three goals, five assists, all-conference); Corynn Grabau (senior forward, three goals, four assists, all-conference); Mariah Nguyen (junior defender, three goals, three assists, 13 shutouts, all-conference); and Kennedy Sanders (junior midfield, two assists, all-conference).
Team strength(s): “We have a fair amount of returners so we’re hoping that our experience pays off,” Griess said.
Expectations: “At the moment we only have one keeper and one hoping to get cleared mid-September, so the goal is to stay injury-free for the duration,” Griess said. “As always, we expect to do well in section playoffs and make it back to the state tournament. We were close last year to making it three in a row, and it was very disappointing to finish the way we did.”

Head coach (years with team): Todd Manske (13th year as head coach).
Team captains: seniors Mia Posey, Lauren Block and Megan Nelson.
Team strengths/Expectations: “Legacy is excited for new conference opponents this season,” Manske said. “Looking to finish in the top half of the conference. With the leadership of the seniors this year (five girls), Legacy Lions soccer will rely on help from the younger classes. Over half of the team is made up of eighth- and ninth-graders. Three of the ninth-graders have been playing on varsity since seventh grade. The defense is anchored by ninth-grader Lana Schiebout and senior Mia Posey; these girls will be filling the roles of last year’s seniors. Looking for a balanced attack with midfielders Ari Shank (senior) and Alicia Hoffman (eighth grade) taking on the CM positions. And excited for more offensive production from forwards Sydney Posey (freshman), Megan Spencer (eighth grade) and Lauren Block (senior). (We’re) very excited to put up several more victories this season. The girls work extremely hard and are a true joy to coach.”
Head coach (years with team): Scott Zachmann (9th year).
Team captains: Lily Newby and Jenna Crosby.
Returning starters/key contributors: Newby, Crosby, Debra Leir, Sammi Proulx and Jordan Pascerella.
Team strength(s): “Over the past few years our teams have focused a lot on what’s most important — our character — and we will continue to build on that,” Zachmann said. “We know that character drives results and we put our own needs or wants in the back seat and know we are here to serve one another.”
New players: “Ninth-grader Kendall Stadden,” Zachmann said. “She will be fun to watch. Big, strong goal-scorer that will help open the game up for others.”
Expectations: “As always, win the section, then win the state tournament,” Zachmann said. “Same every year.”
