Question. Trooper Dave:

What is the legal standing on wearing shoes while driving?  I've been told both ways and love driving shoeless.

Tammie Zimmerman

Sgt. David A. Marquart
Safety Education Officer
Minnesota State Patrol

Answer.......Dear Tammie:

This is actually a question that is asked a lot.  I remember hearing the same thing when I was young, but Tammie I have some news you will LOVE.  You can let your tootsies free, because there is no such law.  In fact I called the Legislative Library to see if there was ever a law that pertained to driving without shoes and there never was. This is an old wise tale that has been past on from generation to generation.  So enjoy driving with your toes free and thanks for the question.
