Sixth District Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, R-Stillwater, appeared at the Capitol this morning (Monday, Dec. 7) at a rally in support of legislation carried by Sen. Amy Koch, R-Buffalo, that would place before voters next election on a constitutional amendment dealing with state spending.

"That's bravery in the State of Minnesota," said Bachmann of calling for a reduction in taxes. Not everyone agreed with Bachmann's sentiments, the Maureen Reed campaign — a DFL Sixth District congressional challenger — accusing Bachmann of supporting accounting gimmicks that fail to address underlying economic issues. For her part, Koch, who will take her legislation before the Senate Tax Committee later this morning, said "the Democrats aren't going to like this one." Gov.
