Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Haas of Champlin along with some fellow Republican candidates signed a petition today (Sept. 30) calling on Attorney General Lori Swanson to launch an investigation into the actions of the Assciation of Community Organzations for Reform Now (ACORN) and possible connections between the group and voting irregularities in Minnesota. Also signing the petition with Haas was former state auditor Pat Anderson (standing behind Haas), and representatives Tom Emmer, of Delano, Paul Kohls, of Victoria, and Marty Seifert, of Marshall. In terms of election reform, Haas called for voter ID and an Oct. 1 deadline for registration, speaking at the Capitol press conference. An Attorney General's Office spokesman this afternoon said the office hadn't yet received the petition but would review when delivered. (Photo by T. W. Budig, ECM Capitol Reporter)| < Prev | Next > |
