Milaca woman dies in two-vehicle crash near Milaca

Marion Katke, 68, of Milaca died following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 169, about five miles north of Milaca, on New Year's Day at approximately 5 p.m.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Katke was east bound on County Road 11 in a 1997 Buick Lesabre when she pulled out onto Highway 169 in front of a 1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Robert Peterson, 48, of Crosby, who was southbound on 169. -- Mille Lacs County Times

Peterson was taken to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale with non-life threatening injuries. Katke's husband Roland, 74, was treated and released.

Alishajo Peterson, 16, of Minneapolis, and Johnathan Gobeli, 18, of Maplewood were in Peterson's vehicle and were also treated and released. The Katkes and the teenagers were all wearing seat belts, it is unknown if Robert Peterson was wearing a seat belt.
