Nearly 35 MGA golf courses from around Minnesota will participate in the Minnesota Golf Association's program, Bring Your Family to the Golf Course, July 9-15, 2007.

Quaifying rounds completed for MGA Amateur Championship, to be held July 17-19

Qualifying rounds for the 104th Minnesota Golf Association Amateur Championship concluded Monday at Tanners Brook Golf Club in Forest Lake. The 104th MGA Amateur Championship will be held at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, July 17-19.

Sesquicentennial grants now available

leonard.jpgSesquicentennial grants - bucks for communities and groups to celebrate Minnesota's 150th anniversary of statehood - are now available.

The Minnesota Statehood Sesquicentennial Commission announced Tuesday (July 3) the availability of $325,000 in grant money to help fund sesquicentennial activities.

Minnesota Statehood Sesquicentennial Commission Executive Director Jane Leonard announced Tuesday (July 3) the availability of grants to schools, nonprofits and local government for sesquicentennial activities.

Minnesota will be celebrating its 150th anniversary of statehood on May 11, 2008.

9 Nights of Music series starts Tuesday at Minnesota History Center in St. Paul

The popular series, "9 Nights of Music," now in it's 11th year, presents the rich and vibrant rhythms and sounds of Minnesota's multi-cultural community at free outdoor performances and will be held again at the Minnesota History Center, St. Paul.

Oak Grove's Sean Sherk is finally set to defend his Ultimate Fighting lightweight title

sherk.jpgThe past 10 months have not been kind to the Ultimate Fighting Championship's title holders. In that time the championship belts for four of the five UFC weight divisions have changed hands at least once.

The only stability in the champions' ranks has been in the lightweight class, where Sean Sherk has retained the previously vacant title he won in October with a blood-soaked victory over Kenny Florian.

"It just goes to show you the diversity of the sport today," says Sherk, a St. Francis graduate and Oak Grove resident. See more in ABC Sportsweek story by Troy Misko.
   

Pawlenty signs emergency executive order easing restrictions on transportation of gasoline

Gov. Tim Pawlenty Thursday signed an emergency executive order waiving certain restrictions for drivers of commercial vehicles engaged in the transportation of gasoline and of motor fuels. The emergency order will ease the distribution of gasoline across Greater Minnesota.
