The Northstar Commuter Rail will begin its route from Big Lake to downtown Minneapolis Monday, Nov. 16.

This project began in 1997 with a joint powers agreement between about 30 counties, cities, townships and regional rail authorities known as the Northstar Corridor Development Authority. Aware of the need for additional transportation between St. Cloud and Minneapolis, the group worked for 10 years to make the Northstar Commuter Rail Project a reality.
