32-point buck taken during first Camp Ripley bow hunt

bigbuckArchers took a total of 171 deer during the first two-day bow hunt, Oct. 15 - 16, at Camp Ripley Military Reservation near Little Falls, including a 32-point buck that may challenge the current state record deer taken by archery.

Of adult bucks weighed, seven tipped the scales near or above 200 pounds. The largest buck weighed 239 pounds, taken by Matthew Preston of Foreston; but the 192-pound 32-point buck, taken by Scott Okonek of South Haven, generated the most public attention.
