Dr. Maureen Reed opens Sixth District campaign office in Anoka

Sixth District congressional candidate Dr. Maureen Reed officially kicked off her campaign on Saturday, opening her campaign headquarters in Anoka, with a crowd of Democrats, Independents and Republicans.

Dr. Reed first announced her intention to run in the 6th Congressional district, currently represented by Michele Bachmann, on May 12th of this year.

Dr. Reed said, “I’m running for Congress because as a doctor, I’ve seen what happens when people delay care because they can’t afford it, as a former regent, I’ve seen the negative effects of raising tuition costs at the University of Minnesota, and as a head of a non-profit, I’ve seen the problems small businesses face when they have to deal with the exorbitant increases in their health care premiums. In America, we can do better.”

Reed added, “The support I have received from across the district and the state is truly humbling and gratifying. When I’m in Washington, I will bring common sense solutions to Congress and will work across party lines to deliver results for the district, state and nation.”

Maureen Reed is running for Congress in Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional district against Bachmann. Reed reported over $311,000 on hand at the end of the third quarter. Reed is a self proclaimed, “made in Minnesota moderate,” who will bring together Democrats, Republicans, and Independents to get things done.
