Here’s a video of Rep. Keith Ellison suggesting that America is an “imperial power.” Despite his apparent disdain for that “fact,” Ellison further suggests government use its power to silence speech he doesn’t agree with.

For what it’s worth, I’ve grown so used to far-left politicians condemning the “abuses of power” by the current administration on one hand, and suggesting that government shut down the free speech rights of critics (think Fairness Doctrine) with the other, I have long ceased being amazed by the rank hypocrisy.

In Ellison’s world, media perceived to be unfriendly would be silenced, or forced to give Ellison approved thought equal time. Right here. In America. Either he doesn’t understand the concept of free speech, or he doesn’t care to protect it. I’m not sure which possibility I find more frightening.
