Rep. Bachmann puts muzzle on media at Sixth District Republican Convention

Rep. Michele Bachmann wouldn’t allow the media to use video cameras or tape recorders at the Sixth District Republican Convention where she was endorsed by acclamation Saturday in Blaine.

What’s behind that?

Perhaps she doesn’t want people to know what she thinks, or at least how she says it. For example, she told the Republicans at the Sherburne County convention: “The big thing we are working on now is the global warming hoax. It’s all voodoo, nonsense, hokum, a hoax.”

That’s more than a little unfair to say that Rep. Bachmann muzzled the media. The 6th CD leadership sets the rules for the convention hall and the endorsing convention, not the Congresswoman.

It’s also a little disingenuous to cite her claimed 91% party line vote, when the rest of the Congressional delegation, excepting Ramstad and Peterson, have similar partisan vote percentages.

If you want to blame someone, blame the DumpBachmann bloggers for abusing their privileges and making intentionally stupid videos and graphics, with the intent (nay, hope) of embarrassing Congresswoman Bachmann. DB bloggers are the ones who caused the 6th CD leadership to prohibit recording in the Convention Hall, Not Bachmann.

Mr. Heinzman sure does like to bash people who disagree with his enlightened view of the world. However, it is apparent that he is the one who needs to be educated. He would also do well to let the reader know why he disagrees with Bachmann on the issues listed.

    1. The global warming issue is a hoax - and no, it is just not the right-wing kooks who think so.
    2. Nearly 70% of Republican recently polled thought that the invasion of Iraq was the correct decision and 43% of all Americans thought that things are going well in Iraq.
    3. Those who fought the minimum wage increases on the national level and in the state of Minnesota warned that it would cost jobs. Well, the unemployment rate in the U.S. and Minnesota is going up - suprise.
    4. The Senate voted to 68 to 29 not to expand FISA to the Protect America Act. A lot of Senate Democrats agreed with the President and Bachmann.
    5. As for SCHIP, the bill vastly expanded the original intent of the law by extending coverage to the middle class and thus leading us down the road to socialized medicine.

In general, this would be why I would vote the way Bachmann did. Her reasons are probably similar.
