Republican Party members eating up candidates because they crossed over

Are you surprised that activist Republican Party members are eating up their candidates because they crossed over and voted for what’s best for their district? They had the audacity to vote what’s best for the districts they represent.

Imagine, not only were the infamous six stripped of their committee leadership assignments, but their own party members are trying to deny them the IR endorsement.

This is not a government of, by and for the party.

I particularly have in mind the sacking Rep. Kathy Tingelstad and Rep. Jim Abeler of Anoka County, who are being scourged by their own party leaders.

I predict they will be re-elected with or without endorsement because the Anoka County leadership knows passing the Transportation Funding Bill is in the best interests of Anoka County “

Republicans haven’t been IR (Independent Republicans) for about a decade. It’s just R now, not “IR”.

Those Republican legislators have a long history of voting counter to the Republican Platform. It’s not just about the one vote to override - that was merely the final straw. There is a strong case to be made that if they don’t want to support key Republican Ideals (i.e. the Party Platform) they should not be requesting and receiving Republican support and endorsement. (same goes for Democrats BTW)

The parties can bestow, withhold or withdraw endorsement from anyone whom they choose. The candidates can decide to embrace the party, or eschew the party and run without - or without requesting - the endorsement, but the Parties decide whom to support. That’s simply part of our current democratic process and it’s just fine. Ultimately the General Election voters decide.

Anoka County Residents are REALLY UNHAPPY about all the tax increases and not just this latest 6.6 Billion behemoth - think Twins tax and Vikings tax - neither implemented, but known and hated by 65% of Anoka. Don’t think the voters will forget! Oh, they very well might forget, but there will be a glaring reminder for them on election day: a Constitutional Amendment on the Ballot to increase taxes for Arts & Humanities & Environment (I predict it will fail). This will bring back memories of paying $4.18 a gallon for gas over the Summer and voters will attribute it to the gas tax increase (unfair, I know, but that’s Psychology). Tinglestad, Abler, et. al. will have a tough row to hoe come this fall, with or without the R Endorsement…

“Pardon me, but aren’t Republicans supposed to try and defeat Democrats? ” wrote the blog author…

Yes - Republicans work hard to defeat Democrats and what we call RINOs… Republicans In Name Only. Those who vote like Democrats, sign onto bills authored by Democrats and otherwise look, walk and smell like a Democrat (oh yes … they do have a distinctive odor).

Democrats of late have decided to play along with the Watermelons (you know… these are the Greens who are Green on the outside, but are really red on the inside) and run our lives. They do this by raising gas prices while simultaneously demanding investigations into the obscene gas prices.

To delve into the logic of the Democrats will undoubtedly leave readers of your blog dumber than when we started.

If the shoe were on the other foot, and there were six Democrats who voted with the Republican’s to slash the 11 billion in entitlements allocated to Health and Human Services, what would the reaction been of the DFL? What would have been the reaction of the local media? If you want to flip flop on the issues (and the platform), be an Independent. Oust the RINO’s!

King James Abeler is pathetic. He did not get the endorsement even without any opposition. He did not deserve it. Abeler’s voting record in 2007 is 47.5% with the Republicans. That means he’s actually a Democrat. King James Abeler votes with the DFL on nearly every spending bill and other crap bills the whining Dumbocrats offer up. Don Huizenga is a real conservative Republican and deserves the support of every real moral AND financial conservative voter in district 48B. King James Abeler MUST GO!
