Between the courtyard crypts, the haunted hayrides or the new demonís playground, Nightmare at Pinehaven has enough scare tactics to give you, well, nightmares.
In its 15th year, Nightmare at Pinehaven will have its usual tortured souls and both Freddy and Jason, but this year a new demonic attraction has been added.
On Friday, Sept. 29, during the season opener, area residents can enjoy the new ěDemonís Playground.î
Participants will walk through the woods as universal studios ědemonsî try to scare them, if not snatch them.
Also, every year Nightmare asks iconic hollywood actors like Linda Blair and Adam West to speak about their lives. And this year is no different.
Nightmare at Pinehaven will welcome Suzanna Leigh, Chuck Williams and Sheikh Adnan Alkaissy to their stage.
Leigh, a Hollywood actress since the age of 12, has starred in numerous horror films and has starred with Elvis Presley, Jerry Lewis, Tony Curtis, Roger Moore and Richard Harris.
She will be at Nightmare at Pinehaven on October 13 and 14.
Williams, another Hollywood actor, has been involved in over 36 feature films. He was in such films as ěBubba Ho-Tep,î ěDark Waterî and ěGroom Lake.î
Currently he is working on a film with William Shatner called ěHorroween.î He will be at Nightmare at Pinehaven on October 20 and 21.
Former WWF wrestler ěGeneral Adnan,î or Sheikh Adnan Alkaissy will also be a part of the events. While he spent most of his time as a wrestler, Alkaissy is also an accomplished author. Although retired, he still enjoys promoting wrestling matches.
Alkaissy will be at Nightmare at Pinehaven on October 27 and 28.
Jean Sockness, coordinator for Nightmare at Pinehaven, lives for Halloween. Her passion for the yearly celebration shows in the ideas and props used to give anyone a paralyzing spook.
ěLife is hard enough,î Sockness says. ěPeople can come here and just have a blast.î
Sockness takes this idea seriously investing several thousand dollars and priceless hours creating one of the scariest Halloween events in the state of Minnesota.
For those area residents who are not quite looking for a heart stopping scare, there are other options available at Nightmare at Pinehaven.
By reservations only, a large group, up to 35 people, can enjoy a campfire all to themselves.
Complete with a ghost story and food, participants can rent the campfire after theyíve gone through what the haunted horrors Nightmare has to offer, or they can just make an evening of it with all of their friends.
Fortune telling, novelties and face painting will also be provided during the evening events.
Nightmare at Pinehaven is open weekdays and Sundays from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays 7 to 11 p.m. It will be open September 29-30, October 6-8, 12-15 and 18-31.
Pre-paid advance reservation tickets are $12.67 (plus tax) for adults and $11.74 (plus tax) for 12 and under.
